My name is Adam and I'm a Plastic Crack Addict!
I'm the founder of the Plastic Crack Addicts Association. I have been involved in the miniature wargaming hobby for over 20 years, for those Warhammer 40K fans I've been around since the 2nd Edition box set dropped. However my interests don't just lie in the 41st Millennium, I've been building scale model kits for as long as I can remember and also enjoy building miniatures from other wargaming providers. I've recently started dabbling with the world of 3D printing and both things combined has led to fairly generous pile of shame being hoarded.
The reason the PCAA was founded was to create a thriving community of like minded hobby enthusiasts with no boundaries. We don't care what system you play or like to collect. If the miniatures come on a sprue then this is the place for you. We wish to motivate and encourage members to start to chip away at their own piles of shame.
Our three main steps, Build, Paint, Play will get our members onto the road to Pile of Shame freedom.
The first step on the journey. The physical act of picking something from your Pile of Shame and assembling it. This can sometimes be the hardest step of the three. It can be daunting the thought of removing all the pieces from the sprue and cleaning up flashing and mould lines. But fear not, we get guidance at this stage from our sacred texts of instruction mannuals and assembly guides. Use these wisely as they will shorten your time at this step significantly. Now take a step back and marvel at your new grey creations!
The creative step. Let your imagination run wild, feed that thirst for colour. You can be as detailed or basic, bold or conservative as you want in this step. Just remember the "Rule of Three!" A three colour minimum normally applies to most models to consider this step complete. Slap Chop Technique and Speed Paints can be your allies. However huge rewards can be sought by those willing to dedicate more time to this step.
The final step. Using our completed miniatures to partake in Table Top Miniature Wargaming. Roll those dice and do battle with your enemies. Did it feel good? It should! Seeing your mini creations running into battle should spur you on to repeat the process again and build renforcements for those little guys.
At the PCAA we don't believe in going cold turkey! Two steps forward and one step back is still progress made. We want to reward our members and get them involved. Contributions you make to this association and community will be rewarded with free entries to our prize draw giveaways. The joy is you can contribute as much or as little as you like. Check out our contributions page to see how you can get involved.
